Bike2Benefits Prizes Announced

Metro Transit’s Bike2Benefits program, which kicked off earlier this year to encourage people to try bike commuting, promised prizes for anyone that registered and logged eight consecutive weeks of at least one bike or bike/transit commute. They recently announced what the actual prizes are.

Third Prize (eight will be awarded)
Commuter kit (valued at $60)
-Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair by Park Tool
-Wool riding socks
-Headlight
-Patch kit
-Rear flasher

Second Place (five will be awarded)
Commuter kit (valued at $150)
-Market Pannier by Banjo Brothers
-Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair by Park Tool
-Wool riding socks
-Headlight
-Brass bell
-Bicycle t-shirt
-Patch kit
-Rear flasher

First Prize (three will be awarded)
$250 Gift credit at bike shop of choice

Grand Prize
$500 Gift credit at bike shop of choice

I thought I read initially that the grand prize would be a fancy Trek bike. Such a bike would cost well over $500, but $500 can certainly get you on a more-than-decent commuting bike or significantly clean and gear up the bike you have.

Register those commutes! And don’t cheat.
