Free Winter Bicycling Classes in December

When I started riding my bike to work this summer, I had big ideas of continuing it into the winter. At least up until it snowed.

I stopped riding in July, I think. For a variety of decent and lame reasons.

So maybe you’re hardier and more intrepid first-time-bike-commuter than I am. If a lack of knowledge about what to do differently for winter bike commuting is the only thing holding you back right now, there’s help for you.

494 Commuter Services is providing free winter bicycling training classes. Doug Shidell, publisher of the Twin Cities Bike Map, will be there to teach you what you need to know.

Course content includes: Equipment, lighting, maintenance, clothing, road conditions, preparation, tips for your ride and safety.

A demonstration on-bus rack will also be available so you can practice putting a bicycle on a bus.

Each free class will be held at the Edina Community Center
5701 Normandale Road. Edina, MN 55424 (location and directions).

-Monday, December 1st from 11:30 – 12:30 in room 332
-Tuesday, December 2nd from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. in room 165
-Saturday, December 6th from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. in room 165

Please RSVP to melissa@494corridor.org no later than November 26th – sandwiches and materials will be provided.
