- Metblog is looking for authors. That gig treated me well, but I’ll add that you get out of it what you put into it. What’s in it for you? A more focused audience and they probably have more eyeballs than you do.

- The Greater Frogtown Community Development Corporation has a blog and a facebook group.
- Downtown Journal looks at what it’s like for families with kids living downtown. That is so not like how I grew up, but then again kids grow up in New York City all the time. They mention that crazy Baby Loves Disco thing that Trocadero’s does. And there’s this: Some parents are skeptical about the quality of public schools here. Nassim said that unless her family decides to enroll her children in private school, they will move to Edina. *eyeroll*
- Andy Birkey (who is no longer with MnIndy – sad!) reports on the gay friendliness (or not) of Minnesota’s newly elected officials.
- Someone on LJ is already asking about CSA shares for next year. I want to get in on it, too, and it sounds like they sell out kinda quick, but I don’t know how early is too early or how late is too late to get started. I guess now is not too early. I’m partly putting this here to bookmark it for myself.
- i hate matthew at the eagan old navy I picked this mostly because the title made me laugh, but it’s actually kinda sad. Matthew the Cash Register Monkey was mean to a little old lady. That is so not okay. If you shop at the Eagan Old Navy and Matthew – easily identified by his red hair – gives you even the slightest bit of less-than-perfect customer service, talk to a manager.

We did Featherstone Farm for our CSA, splitting a whole share with another family. LOVED IT! Plus, I like that they’re in Rushford, and fighting back from the huge floods from last year. The produce is great, the price is good, and you’re doing something good.
The last two summers I’ve done a half-share with Loon Organics (www.loonorganics.com). If you’re at all interested, I’d get your name on their waitlist now–they’re very popular, but they just moved to a bigger farm so will be able to add more people next summer. I think their veggies are fabulous, and they’re a lovely couple. They have a few pickup options; I always do the Saturday morning at Mill City Farmers Market. They may be adding Lakewinds this year too. But I can’t recommend them highly enough–young people, very passionate, and the veggies, mmm, they speak for themselves. :-)
Thanks, guys! Much appreciated. Apparently it is not too early to be thinking about it. Gotta make sure we have room in the budget, too. Jason, I’ve heard Featherstone recommended many times. Amy, if they add a drop off at Lakewinds, that would be so perfect.
We keep talking about trying to eat more healthfully in general and having read about how out of touch people can be with what grows around them, I figured this would be a great way to start to learn what grows in Minnesota and when. I’m sure I’ll find something new that I’ve never eaten before, too.
It’s also a challenge for me to participate that fully in the process of feeding ourselves, so I’m probably way more excited about this than my girlfriend is, because at the moment I’m basically adding work for her figuring out what to do with all this stuff. Gotta start pulling my weight in the kitchen!
