Roundup: Election Day

  • East Lake has predictions. Keith Ellison (duh). Michelle Bachmann (f*ck).
  • Organize or Die: The Hip-Hop Community and the 2008 Election. Culture Bully‘s “El Guante” posts at Mill City Scene, a new online mag for the Minneapolis hip hop scene.
  • Mary Lahammer: Lawsuit Lunacy. The Coleman and Franken campaigns each spin the catfight.
  • I think Sornie lives in my neck of the woods. A heated city council race in Eden Prairie coupled with the highly partisan nature of the city and the divisive and ugly U.S. Congress race between Ashwin Madia and Erik Paulsen doesn’t exactly add to the civility. No, the ugliness hasn’t devolved in to people dumping pig blood on cars where they see a bumper sticker which they disagree with but instead has taken to the anonymous, faceless internet I stumbled across the political madness at the Eden Prairie News website a couple weeks ago and it is almost comedic.
  • Leif went to see Bill Clinton’s rally for Al Franken last week. What a marathon, ill-conceived, demoralizing clusterf*ck that rally was. Counting standing in line, most people had been there for well over four hours by the time we limped out of there. Bill’s speech, when he finally got up there, was something else, though.
