David posted last week on the Holiday Light show at Lake Phalen. Now that there’s some snow on the ground, I’m thinking it’s a little more enjoyable.
It’s really the perfect canned Xmas experience.
- You can stay in the warmth of your vehicle.
- You can see lovely lights that someone put some effort into putting up instead of throwing the light blanket haphazardly over their bushes.
- You have a bunch all in one place so you don’t have to wander aimlessly through a random rich neighborhood.
- It’s less guilt-inducing to enjoy than houses in said rich neighborhoods that hired someone to decorate their house so that you can drive through and admire them.
- You’re making a charitable donation.

As an employee of Second Harvest Heartland, I’m obviously a little biased. However, I’d easily pay the $8 or $10 for this even if that wasn’t the case. It’s a beautiful display – and much longer than I was expecting it to be. Everyone check it out!
Your endorsement is duly noted. ;)
