- Okay, fine, I’d never even heard of a loppet until I moved here. John Munger tells you what’s new with the 2009 City of Lakes Loppet Cross Country Ski Festival. It looks like there are lots of loppet events within the big loppet? And it sounds a little like they’re trying to compete with Winter Carnival.

- Xavier Lopez-Ayala checks out Minnesota’s delegation at capitolwords.org and finds that our members of congress have used the word “energy” more than any other in the last year. The second-most-used word? “Minnesota.” Also, Jim Oberstar talks the most, followed by Amy Klobuchar. John Kline talks the least.
- A tale of an encounter with a Northeast Minneapolis ATM by Daniel Konold. My first experience with this type of ATM barricade was at the Wells Fargo in Uptown. I never did much more than futilely, repeatedly stick my card in the reader.
