- State senator John Marty has published an editorial on a path forward for marriage equality in Minnesota. “I would like to ask my colleagues who oppose this legislation why they consider it acceptable for Minnesota’s government to endorse their religious beliefs about gay marriage and enforce them over the religious beliefs that thousands of other Minnesotans have.” Let’s hear it for straight allies!

And many times, they use her ignorance of American laws to keep her quiet.”
- Also on the topic of domestic violence, MPLS Mirror has a story on the successes that the Minneapolis City Attorney’s Office’s Domestic Assault Team and the Fifth Precinct’s Domestic Abuse Pilot Project have had. In the first six months since the pilot project started on Feb 1, 2008, “[T]he conviction rate for domestic cases from the Fifth Precinct has increased by 25%.”
