The General Store of Minnetonka

I’ve been looking for local folks to follow on Twitter. The other day I came across @GenStoreJenny, and the General Store of Minnetonka.

I was actually kind of excited. I mentioned this to my girlfriend as a place that is not the Mall of America or the airport to look for a Minnesota-themed xmas ornament for my mom, because my mom loves xmas ornaments. (Like, lurves xmas ornaments.)

My gf made a face and proceeded to describe the General Store of Minnetonka as being like the non-eating section of a Cracker Barrel, full of “kitchen geese.” I surmised there may also be wooden cats.

So while I might not decorate my home with anything from there, I’ll bet I find that damn xmas ornament without a trip to MSP or the MOA.

And it’s cool that they’re on Twitter. Now if only they’d tweet.

There’s a lot of schlock at the General Store, but there’s also some decent stuff. There’s just a *lot* overall. Go with plenty of time.

The more I think about it, the more I’m fascinated by the idea of this place.

The trick will be to remember to go do my shopping in a timely fashion.
