The time is ripe for this. Economically, humanitarily, it is the best thing government can do to support individual and business economies. It makes perfect sense, and everyone who studies policy, including those in public office, knows this. Al Franken and Barack Obama are "for" it, but don't directly advocate single payer. I have a feeling there are lots of politicians who are just waiting here in Minnesota for a governor who supports it. That's another good reason to put John Marty in as governor. We get an Executive behind it, and the times are ripe for the momentum to pass this, and we know we have to do it on the state level before the national government ever will.

Chris, Not all "universal health care" plans are created equal. The Minnesota Health Plan is completely different from the Hawaii plan, and wouldn't have the same problems that the Hawaii plan had. You can read a little more about the Hawaii plan at http://www.ncsl.org/programs/health/shn/2008/sn530b.htm . To read more about the MHP, you can check out the address listed above (mnhealthplan.org) or www.muhcc.org (the Minnesota Universal Health Care Coalition). ... Thanks for the post!

That is pretty exciting.

I've read state universal health care plans suck (i.e. Hawaii). It's fine when the economy's good, but when things go south, there's no way to deficit-spend so the plans end up being the first thing cut. We need universal health care from the federal gov .........
