- I love a good anti-Michele Bachmann rant. Something about her particular brand of crazy gets the haters (myself included) equally as frothy. But there’s plenty of that out there already. The St. Cloud Times editorial page takes a more measured approach and just straight up says she’s a terrible politician and is not serving her constituents. Still, you cannot possibly deny that she’s crazy. SHE CRAZY. (via MnIndy)
- Robin Marty sends an Equal Pay Day reminder that it takes women 16 months to earn what men make in 12 months. “Even here in Minnesota, where wages are in many ways higher than around the country, we still lag far behind Minnesota men.” (Yes, there are all sorts of parameters around that statement, but screw you if you try to deny the pay gap.)
- A community organizer from Seattle recently made a visit to the Twin Cities to talk about the impact he’s seen in his community from a large public transportation project (sound familiar?). He talked about how he went from opposing the project all together to how he could help mitigate the impact on his community. Great read and good perspective on the situation, because the Central Corridor LRT line ain’t going away.
- The Groovy Twin: How Minneapolis Became an Arts Powerhouse in the NY Post. It’s not the Times, and it’s not anything we didn’t already know, but I’ll take it. “Ironically, though, the real reason Minneapolis has a boast-worthy arts scene may be down to the one thing it’s already famous for: terrible weather… six months stuck inside means artists will create things, while six months mingling helps them hype it and make connections over cocktails.” Includes a Top 10 with many of the usual names. - Man-about-Seward Sheldon Mains briefs us on “a gathering of people interested in making sure Minnesota gets it share of the Obama Stimulus Package money devoted to getting people broadband Internet service” hosted by the Blandin Foundation. It’s a short and sweet numbered list with a couple of useful links.

P.S. My experiment with the lazy roundup daily Twitter digest is over. I wasn’t sure before that that would be a bad idea, but now I am. My apologies. It had to be seen to be believed. If you’re not a Twitter user get on it already but are still interested in the content, you can subscribe to fresh.mn’s tweets by RSS.

Michele Bachmann is not representing her constituents, but I worry that she’s stupid like a fox. I had a dream (!) the other night that she and Sarah Palin ran together in 2012 and won. Just shoot me now. I think she says any crazy thing she can think of just to keep her face and name in the press, and I think she does unfortunately appeal to a very scary portion of the population.
