You can now tag your flickr photos with foursquare data. Here’s how:
1. Find the venue on foursquare’s website. Note the number at the end of the venue page web address. For example, Midtown Global Market’s foursquare page web address is http://foursquare.com/venue/29149, so MGM’s venue ID is 29149.
2. Go to your flickr photo’s page. I took this photo at the Produce Exchange at the MGM.
3. Tag the photo with foursquare:venue=##### where ##### is the venue ID. I tagged this photo with foursquare:venue=29149.
4. After a refresh or two, a special foursquare tag will show up just below your copyright and privacy permissions and just above your meta data.
There’s not at all an easy way to do this on the fly. Poking around the iPhone foursquare app, I can’t figure out how you determine the venue ID. It’s a little easier if you use foursquare’s mobile web site — http://m.foursquare.com/ — because you can see the web address.
And it’s still an extra step that you have to take before you even upload the photo, assuming you remember the tag format. But if you’re like me you just upload the photos on the fly with minimal info and go back later to add titles, tags, and descriptions, so it’s no big deal. And there are always y’all’s fancy photos that you take with your non-phone cameras. It also makes for a shortcut for searching for flickr photos taken in a particular location.
Try it out! I’ll be checking the photos in the fresh.mn flickr group pool.

Sweet! I’ll be a photo venue tagging fool. Question is, will these pics show up on the venue pages in Foursquare? That would be awesome.
That’s a sweet idea. I bet they make it happen (eventually).
thanks for the tips, I was wondering how tags worked in flickr, and am glad I found this post online.
