Hennepin and First Avenue Two-Way Switch and Bike Lane Training

Weather permitting, Hennepin and First Avenues will go two-way tomorrow (Saturday), which means the new bike lanes will be in effect on First Avenue. No more bike lanes on Hennepin, but you’re welcome to take your chances riding in the street.

If you want a guided tour of the bike lanes and features, city staff will be providing training.

City staff will offer bicycle training opportunities during the third full week of October. Please bring a bicycle to ride. Staff will take you through the project, demonstrating how to use the bicycling features of these two streets. Meet at the Hennepin Avenue entrance of Central Library at one of the following dates and times:

  • Monday, October 19th, 5:30 pm
  • Wednesday, October 21st, 12:00 noon
  • Thursday, October 22nd, 8:00 am

Complete details of the changes are on the city’s Hennepin and First Avenues project website.
