Toys in the Attic is an annual celebration of toys, to benefit those without them.
This is a great opportunity to give a gift and get other awesome holiday gifts to give.
What:
The second annual Toys in the Attic event is a Toy Drive / Art Exhibition featuring signed limited-edition art prints and custom-created art toys. This is an official Toys for Tots Foundation event and 100% of the toys and cash donations collected at the door go to The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, – along with 25% of art print and custom toy sales.
When/Where:
The 2009 event will take place on Friday December 4th @ the Soo Visual Arts Center. Hours will be 6pm-9pm on Friday, December 4th* / Silent Auction ends @ 8:30pm, sharp. Music provided by special guests DJ Solid Gold.
*Remaining prints available 11am-4pm on Saturday.
Donating toys:
Guests are asked to help out children in need by bringing a new (unwrapped) toy* to the show. In return, they will receive one of the event official poster** prints designed by Minneapolis artist Lonny Unitus. If you forget your toy, there is a suggested donation of $1-$5 at the door. All toys and door donations are collected by Toys for Tots.
*No Military Toys please.
**While supplies last.
The art:
Local artists have created limited edition runs of toy-inspired art prints for sale at the event – each print is numbered and signed. All poster prints are sold for $30 (unframed).
Special toys:
Custom toy artists from around the world have donated a unique art toy for our silent auction. The minimum bid for each toy is $50. The Silent Auction ends @ 8:30 PM.
I believe Soo Visual Arts Center has completed their merge with Rosalux gallery but maybe not their renovation yet. It’s a pretty cool space for this kind of event. You can see sneak peeks of some of the prints and custom toys at toysintheatticshow.com (and see the list of participating artists if you’re looking for someone in particular).
