No War on Afghanistan – Protest in Downtown Minneapolis

Originally uploaded by Tony Webster.
See Tony Webster’s whole set from yesterday’s protest march in response to President Obama’s announcement on Tuesday night of a planned troop surge in Afghanistan.
Tony also notes: The group, Direct Action to Stop War and Occupation (DASWO), left the southwest corner of Loring Park at 5:30PM and marched around Loring Park and Downtown Minneapolis. There were about a dozen arrests during the night for an act of civil disobedience, all relating to “unlawful assembly.”
UPDATE: The Uptake has video from Craig Stellmacher.
Craig says: Starting in Loring Park, at the edge of downtown, marchers crisscross the city to show their disaproval of President Obama’s Afghan War surge. I asked many along the way, “why are you here tonight?” After over an hour of marching, an intersection would be blocked, and police would move in arresting about a dozen.
